Public Involvement Meeting1st Public Meeting Info -

The City of Glen Cove, along with the Consultant Team, would like to thank everyone who attended the Public Hearing.

An open house and public hearing regarding the proposed Glen Cove Ferry Terminal and Boat Basin was held on Monday, July 30, 2007 at the Metropolitan Club in Glen Cove. Over 300 people attended the meeting. Meeting minutes will be posted on the documents page when they are available.

All interested persons were given the opportunity to express their views concerning the economic and social effects of the project, its impact to the environment and its consistency with the goals and objectives of such planning as has been promulgated by the community. The proceedings were recorded in order to respond to everyone's comments and made available at a later date.

As of July 9, copies of the Draft Design Report/Environmental Assessment are available for viewing during business hours at the Glen Cove Public Library, and at the office of the city clerk on the third floor of city hall.

Persons were able to file written statements and other exhibits in place of, or in addition to, oral statements made at the public hearing. Written statements submitted at the hearing or mailed and received up to 30 days after the hearing at the office of the Industrial Development Agency, will also be made part of the record. Written comments relative to the Ferry project were submitted through the office of the Industrial Development Agency, the Mayor’s office, the website, and the public hearing.

The formal deadline for all comments to be included in the Final Environmental Assessment Design Report (EADR) was August 30, 2007 at 4:00 pm. Any person can continue to submit comments on this website, but those comments will not be included in the Final (EADR) Environmental Assessment Design Report.

The City would like to thank everyone who participated in submitting comments relative to the Glen Cove Ferry project. These helpful comments were much appreciated and many of your comments were similar in nature.

Responses to all comments, along with original comments, are posted to this website and will also be added to the Final (EADR) Environmental Assessment Design Report and made available at the Glen Cove Public Library and City Clerk’s office. As protocol for Federally funded projects, these comments are to be included in the Final EADR for clarification, public information and potential inclusion into further planning efforts.
